I am not a hotel manager in real life. My job is far less fascinating – I am a lawyer. The best part of my job is telling people what it is, because for some reason many folks are impressed by it, or they have some vision of Perry Mason/Ally McBeal/Law & Order, and think that my job is dramatic and exciting. In reality, it can be both those things at times, but much more often it’s like doing homework for a living. The research, writing, and incessant timekeeping are things that simply get edited out.
I live in Sin City, Las Vegas. I have a lovely wife, a four year old son and one year old daughter. I love sports, music, and comedy. My favorite participatory sport is cycling, and my favorite to watch is football; however, I will watch major events/playoffs of almost any major sport (except hockey – I never got re-interested in hockey after not missing it during their labor dispute a few years ago). I root for the Washington Redskins (hard core), the San Diego Padres (although I tend to root for players more than teams in baseball) and the Detroit Pistons. I love to watch baseball live and have season tickets for our local AAA team, the Las Vegas 51s.
I have ecclectic musical tastes, and have everything from Pantera to Frank Sinatra to Patsy Cline to George Michael to NWA on my ipod/itunes. I love stand up comedy and regularly go to the (smoke-free) 8:00 show at the Comedy Stop at the Tropicana to check out new and upcoming comedians. I love Lewis Black and Ron White, and was very saddened at the deaths of Mitch Hedberg and Richard Jeni. I also love to see funny short videos; thus I hail YouTube as the greatest invention since the iPod. I can appreciate sophisticated humor, but I’m not too mature to laugh at fart jokes either.
